Right next door to Shimayado Goen is “Melody Box” — a bar & karaoke room, and a place to meet people, run by our host, “Maman.” The best memories of a trip are the people you meet. Staying here, that’s where island folk and travellers cross paths.
Maman’s bar
In the roomy dining bar, the ever-cheerful Maman looks after you. Even if you don’t sing, it’s a place to have a quiet drink and unwind. Guests and locals both gather here, so it’s a good spot to hear about island life.
Karaoke for a crowd
The karaoke room is large — a big group is no problem. The machine is up to date, and the lighting is almost like a disco. Sing, talk, and enjoy the island night.
Hours: roughly 19:00–around 25:00.
Coin laundry
Melody Box also has a coin laundry — handy for longer or working stays. While you wait, the Goen way is to do karaoke, grab a snack, or get some work done.
Hours: 6:00–around 25:00.
| Washer (×2) | ¥300 per load |
|---|---|
| Dryer (×2) | ¥100 / 20 min |

Downtime & workation
Around 1,000 manga to read, free in the morning and afternoon. There’s a frozen-food vending machine and a microwave, and Wi-Fi. A good place for a break between tasks.
