Ojika is an island, so the last leg is always by sea. First make your way to either Sasebo or Hakata, then take the boat.

The two main routes
There are two main ways in by boat: from Sasebo, and from Hakata.
From Sasebo (Kyusho Ferry)
First, get to Sasebo Port (Kujirase Terminal)
Boats for Ojika, Uku and Arikawa leave from Kujirase Terminal — a different building from the "Shin-Minato Terminal" at Sasebo Port. Confirm the boarding point and times with Sasebo City and Kyusho Ferry.
Sasebo Port → Ojika Port
- Fast boat — about 1 h 30 min
- Ferry — about 3 h
Times depend on the sailing, the ports of call and sea conditions. We don’t list fixed departure times or fares here.
From Hakata (Nomo Ferry "Taiko")
From Hakata, the overnight ferry "Taiko" sails late in the evening, you sleep on board, and it reaches Ojika early the next morning.
First, get to Hakata Pier (Terminal 2)

From Tokyo, Osaka and beyond
Total time varies a lot with your connections. Here are the usual routes.
From the Tokyo area
- Fly to Fukuoka Airport → Hakata Pier → overnight ferry “Taiko” → Ojika
- Fly to Nagasaki Airport → Sasebo Port → fast boat / ferry → Ojika
From the Osaka area
- Shinkansen to Hakata Station → Hakata Pier → overnight ferry “Taiko” → Ojika
- Fly to Fukuoka Airport → Hakata Pier → overnight ferry “Taiko” → Ojika

When you arrive at Ojika Port
Shimayado Goen is just a short distance from the Ojika Port ferry terminal (Fuefuki).
By car it’s about 3 minutes. There is free parking for roughly 6–8 cars — if you’re driving, a quick message ahead of time is appreciated.

Getting around the island
Once you’ve checked in, a rental car or bicycle is the easiest way to explore. (The free harbour pick-up is just between the port and the inn — island sightseeing is on your own wheels.)
